Although its name comes from Germany, this grape originated in Italy’s Tyrollean Alps in the northern Alto Adige region. Today it’s grown in cool regions in Germany, Hungary, Austria, Rumania and Ukraine.
Full-bodied, a rarity in white wines, this is also a robust and exotically-flavoured wine with hints of roses, lychees and spice. The prefix “Gewürz” means spicy, but could also be translated as perfumed.
Chicken and salmon, spicy foods and curry dishes. It’s also a great match for fresh fruit and desserts.
