After huge popularity in the 1980’s, the historic name of Beaujolais suffered something of a backlash in the 1990’s and 2000’s. But the more recent oak barrelled releases offer a return to form and a renewed spirit of excellent wine production.

Quite light in taste, Beaujolais is fruity with scents of pear and banana.
Sweet pork or full-flavored poultry dishes, i.e. anything spicy or sweet that might go well with a white. Beaujolais, which is often described as the “only white wine that happens to be red,” can be served lightly chilled.
